bill, Bienvenue! Welcome to the forum! Regards, Mick Merci beaucoup! For all that are interested, my name is Bill Kapsalis - I was born and raised in Chicago, but for the last 5 years have been living in Kansas City, MO. I am 42 years old and have been collecting/reenacting since 1982! I have done WWI (US, USMC), WWII (US Army Inf., Para, Ranger, FSSF, USMC, USN, USAAF), Korean War (US Inf/Para, USMC), and Vietnam (USMC, US Inf., US Army Rangers, Para). I have a pretty extensive collection of militaria from 1916-1979, mostly US but some German and Japanese. My military history interests range from Ancient to the present. I have been particularly interested in the FICW for years - I have badgered Osprey for years to come out with more books on the topic - and have a small collection of items from the period - Original lizard jacket, web gear, and jump helmet (US 1950 period). I am currently putting together kit representing a member of the 6eme BPC. I'd love to come to a reenacting event sometime. Excited to be here - thanks for reading and best to all! Bill K.

Hey everyone thanks for the welcome, my name is Sacha Canning and currently i live in Boston, but i was born in Northern Ireland. I just got into the whole reenacting fun. Right now i have a US WWII infantry impression, but am starting A British Para one also. WWII is my main interest, but I also like to research WWI and Vietnam. This Indochina forum definitely has sparked my interest and i will be doing some research on it int he near future .

Bill and Sacha,
Bienvenue Legionnaires!
Welcome aboard guys.
You will find like-minded people here on this site, who are very knowledgeable as well as open to what interests you in the French Indochina War ... or les oublies guerre d'indochine (The Forgotten War in Indochina) as the French say.
You will also find a differnt type of reenactor here. We are on this forum because we are addicted /enjoy FICW reenacting, history, weapons or collecting the militaria. You won't find a tighter group I think.
So whatever questions you have, feel free to ask.
We'll pass the Kronenbourg!

Merci,
Primarily interested in the Legion, both infantry and para, although the colonial paras are equally interesting.
I've been involved in all kinds of reenacting (WW1 FFL, WW2 German, 1940 French, and currently GI, to name a few).
I live in Maryland and would like to see Indochina get more attention.
Anyone else from the mid-atlantic?

Hey Dave, Welcome aboard. The FICW Forum is quite new (although there were several attempts in the past that didnt make it to get a fully fledged forum off the ground). There are several other FICW units in the country - Grayden Zuver's 7e RTA in Illinois, Chad Meyer's 2nd REP out of Missouri (another unit out of Missouri that is 1er BEP) and the 13th Demi here in Texas. There is Thunder from Heaven out of the UK and Soldats d'indochine in France. Really quality reenactors who have done a great job getting the word out. If you have not checked out TFH's "Dien bien Phu November 53" photo display, do that today: www.alliedcoldwarvets.com

Yep, US gear is certainly the key item for doing FICW since it was used for the MAS36.
