I see some familiar faces here, Ausdig, Oggy and Hoover... Mainly my interest is in the 6th BPC at the moment but I have an interest in the whole war, as well as the French, US and German forces of WWII. Regards to all, Mark aka Cookie www.thunderfromheaven.co.uk

A word about the Germans in indochine. First look at the time period in which they served. Martini look at the Devils Guard onr more time, they were in service from 1947 to 1949 less than 1000 days, But when they were done they (PartisanJegers) had started the myth about all those Germans who came from the SS. After 1950 most germans who came to the Legion had not served in the military they just wanted out of the conditions that exisited there. Yes there were senior NCOs and Captains who served in WWII left.

Welcome to everyone 'new' on the board!
I have not had time to greet each new person to our board (as in the past) but want to thank everyone who has an interest in French Indochina War reenacting and history.
Thanks for coming on board!

BonJour and Chao Oang everyone. I've been collecting/reenacting for about 10 years, and I'm really interested in a number of slightly obscure wars, French Indochina being one. I've had the impression for years and finally wore it a few months ago to a militaria show, I was pleasantly surprised that some folks knew what it was. I guess there are more of us out there than I thought.

You guys aren't too far out there at all, me and my friends call our group the "QRF" (Quick reenacting force), as a group we've done WW2, Korea, Civil War, and Desert Storm, with individuals who collect/research Roman, French Indochina, Vietnam, Iraqi, and Soviet-Afghan war.

That's what's so cool about many of us with this particular interest! It's our ability to diversify! I did 18th Century Colonial (North American ) French for years! I cut off an 18" queue to do 20th century stuff!!!!!

Bonsoir Gentlemen:
Legionaire Meyer reporting in from North Carolina. Thank you for accepting me on this forum. I am a collector of French Militaria from WW1 through Algeria.
I have been attempting to put together a French Foreign Legion WW2 through Algeria impression. I am not in any WW2 or Indochina War unit right now and am looking for a unit and/or events to attend. I currently reenact WW1 US Marines.
Thanks again for putting this together. It looks like a great group.
Cordialement,
Legionaire

It certainly will. Its going to get the full Thunder From Heaven photoshoot treatment and will stand for all to see.
I'm going to put the French back where they've been missing from in the UK reenacting scene.

Hello all, My name is Grayden Zuver. I'm an experienced German WWII reenactor (since 1989) based in the western suburbs of Chicago. I'm currently the 2IC of the 709th Infanterie-division in the WWII HRS. I've also done W-SS, LW and KM.
I became interested in FICW from reading Bernard Fall. It was a subject that caught my interest and I asked around in the WWII German community to see if anyone knew anyone doing FICW. That's how I found Bob - who showed me this forum.
As far as local French units are concerned, I haven't got one. The Legion does interest me alot - but I'm open to other ideas as well.
I do plan on completing a WWII kit for 13 DBLE. We do some parades here on certain holidays and it might be nice to change from my usual British impression to LE.
Grayden
