I just received this nice item, a pin insignia of the 2e Régiment étranger de parachutistes. Made by Drago of Paris and I guess in the mid-to-late 1950's so it might be original Indochina. The seller had no idea what it was so the price was VERY friendly Anyone have an idea if my period-estimate is correct? The 'blue' in the shield is actually a pale moss-green.

From what I can find in "A Reference Guide to Collecting French Insignia" by Scott Guye, The Drago Paris hallmark was used from 1955 until the 1980s. Unfortunately that's as far as I can track it down. It's hard to tell from the patina how old it actually is. But it's safe to say at least 40ish years.

Thanks Craig, on another forum it was said the 'G1948' mark was used from June 1963 onwards so that puts it in the Algeria-period. I did ask for a source.

Algeria ended in 1962, so strictly speaking it's post-Algeria

I came here to post that: immediately post-Algerie. At least the front side looks the part for at least the decade prior. Nice find.

Whenever it was made, it's a classic. Glad to see there's at least some life left here.
A belated Merry Christmas and early Happy New Year.
