I handled one once. Well-made. Trigger was pretty heavy, which was not optimal for such a light rifle. Not as bad as my Romanian M69, though.

Interesting that it has a safety, which looks like a Mauser-style tab on the bolt. The service rifles had no such safety.
I once owned a .22 Lee-Enfield manufactured in 1914. It was in pretty good shape for its age. I also used a .22 Springfield when I was taking ROTC classes when I was in college but I never saw one in the regular army. It was a really nice rifle in an old-fashioned way. Wood and steel.
