Excellent photo.
China produced plimsoles pretty quickly after the commies took over, if not before. As a side note, they made copies of Palladium pataugas and shipped them to the ALN stationed in Morocco (who were not nice enough to share them with forces within Algeria). Ironic that China makes Palladium's shoes these days.

Interesting to note that they apparently had a system of bumper markings for vehicles.
