Probably a Vietnamese soldier in French service. Appears to have a 98 Mauser rifle. Might be a wool Ike jacket and maybe khaki trousers with very feminine looking sandals. From the look of his hat, he's been in the army for a while. The caption for the pic says he was on the Red China border. All this makes for an interesting combo.
