Never ordered from them so don't know what the service is like. Unfortunately the 'M47' jacket is wrong for Indochina. At that stage the jackets were made with all four pockets being internal. On this one, the lower two are 'patch' style external bellows pockets. The trousers are fine though.

Granted most bellows pocket models are later dated, but I have a Feb 1953 dated M47 jacket with bellows, bottom pockets.... Wether they had time to get to Indochina I do not know. But that date seems early enough to be very plausable.

For Indochina you could also remove the lower pockets and use the jacket as shirt. I've found no prices at EAS. How much is a jacket from them? We got mint Mle 47 suits from a French vendor. Even the jackets with the interior lower pockets. I think they were like €20.
You could also remove just the exterior pockets and leave the pocket flaps in place. Then you don't have pockets, but it looks like there being pockets.

I like the idea of removing the bottom bellows pockets and converting the jacket into the shirt. The shirts are RARE here. I knew of only one vendor here inthe states to have them. He had a pair of smaller chest size for like $50 USD!!!!!! From looking at many pics of French leg units, the Mle 47 shirts were probably the hot item to get! Makes you wonder if the shirts weren't later retrofitted with the bottom bellows pockets and reissued in Algeria..... And these are the new, un-issued jackets we are finding today!!! Are the shirts shorter than the jackets? I've not seen a shirt in person. They kinda look shorter in the pics, but I don't know for sure.... Renault

They also have reinforced shoulders too. I like this picture from the 'Osprey' Men-At-Arms series.

Yes, that pic and several of the others from different MAA series.
There are also two good close-up pics on the French mediatechque site of Legionnaires in this shirt, but it doesnt show the bottom.
Looking at the several plain old Mle 47s I have there are different methods of sewing in the shoulder reenforcement. On two of the jackets (both internal and bellows pocket models) the bottom seam of the reenforcement is un-sewn. You can stick you hand under the reenforcement. The one "heavy" fabric '52 dated example the bottom of the reenforcement is sewn to the jacket.

If somebody wants to pay much money for it. Here is an example. No, I don't know the seller and won't get any money out of the deal. Veste Modéle 47 Allégée Armée Française Ebay Art.no.: 220347655823 It also has the reenforced shoulders. Btw. I just found a dealer who has reproduction beret badges of the Bataillon de Corée. (€18) Regards, Jens

Yeah I've got one of those beret badges. It is a shame the 'COREE' shoulder title is not more common.

As an aside, my grandfather has one of the Bataillon de Corée cap badge that was given to him in Korea. He was a FAO with the 2nd Div. and worked closely with the French and Belgian contingent. He has it displayed in a medals case made for him by Grandmother. I will try and get a pic next time I am at my Dads house. Christian
