Lately we have had some spam posts on the forum. It seems this forum was discovered by the spambots and they won't go or stay away on their own.
A possible solution to this could be activation by hand by the mods, with as a second layer of security a mandatory first post at the 'Introductions'-section before they can post at the rest of the forum? I realize this will cause some more work for the admin team but while for now it's just a trickle I have seen other forums nearly being ran to the ground by spam.
This solution seems to work very well in that it won't stop all spam but it will limit the spam post to 1 per account and then only to a single section of the forum. Taking measures now might prevent headaches later on? Just an idea of course

Sounds reasonable. I'll look at it, and if I can't figure it out I'll dump it on Steve... ;-)

I'm also looking into it. Playing catch-up with reported posts is not the most ideal way to deal with the issue.

Just reported 3 spam post by different spam accounts. Any progress in how to defend the forum against this?

I came up empty in my looks to prevent it. I'm not sure that Steve has had any better luck.

Looks promising... I'll see if I can get it added.

More spam again lately... maybe it's an option to let only registered users post, not guests?
