I got a pair of Mle. 47 pantalons TAP from What Price Glory.
They are pricey- $150- but they are spot on. The weave, fabric color, and pockets are all perfect. They are of rather heavy material like the originals, but they'll be great for my GCMA or 8e Choc impression with a Denison Smock on top. The sizing was perfect and I could easily wear them without a waist belt.

I have a pair as well, and totally agree! Another fine product from WPG (Jerry Lee).

Lew,
If you had waited four more days you would have been able to snag some originals off ebay for forty bucks. They are in remarkable condition and will fit well with my budget and my Thai GCMA unit.

I'm going to wager that the ones you picked up are the Mle. 47 or 47/52 TTA trousers, not the TAP trousers to which I refer. There's a set of Mle. 47 TAP trousers (incorrectly listed as 47/51) on eBay for $150. The TTA trousers are very easy to find; original TAP trousers go for hundreds of dollars.
Congrats on the score, though. Sounds like your impression is coming along smoothly. One item of note for you: if you buy a chapeau de brousse, make sure it's the tan variant, as the olive drab variety wasn't seen until Algeria.
Cheers!

Wow, I should just quit now! They are the Mle.47's of correct Indochina period, I literally just researched this topic.
I'll get a hang of it someday!
Thanks again,

Persistence and dedication, young grasshopper. You will learn, and we're happy to share our knowledge. Everyone begins at a point of ignorance, so worry not.

It's easy to get discouraged. Indo is a fascinating (and maddening) era, and especially the uniforms and equipment as it was an unique blend of US and Brit surplus, and the recovering French made uniforms and equipment. That's not to mention all the private purchase, and theater made kit.
Don't feel bad, even us old farts make mistakes, and learn something new. And as Steve says, you'll find everyone here is very willing to answer questions and help out.
