Thanks, it looks mint, only storage wear and some sun fade, why not 100% super green mint, but close to it i have the Alpine ruck coming from some guy in Canada, those two and my smaller 1st pattern TAP musette and TAP 50 ruck round out my collection

Good job! The book is an excellent reference volume. It and my copy of Les Paras Francais En Indochine are my "go to" references for Indo.

No problem here, truly! I was just teasin' a bit. I'm glad that these pieces are going to people who appreciate them and will be using them to interact with the public. Being a teacher, I guess it's just second nature to try to bring people a deeper understanding of history and the events that later shaped us to where we are now. Sounds like you've been busy pulling together a fine array of kit. Best of luck in your continued hunting! ---Toussant

Just got a beautiful pre WWII Bergam for +/- $100, VERY good shape and color. It has web straps for the most part, with the typical leather reinforcement. Perfect for all Indo unit use! See! Things happen for a reason, you got pieces for your collection, and I just got mine. It's all good! Good Luck on Your Continued Hunting< ---Toussant

Lew- Check out ebay.fr "Sac a Dos TAP 1950" It is virtually the same! Rigid frame with canvas covered shelf (I'm guessing for packing in bulky goods after removing the bag), web strapping with the C shaped end pieces, and that same French green of the web gear of that period. I checked it out against my new copy of Guyader's The French Foreign Legion in Indochina, 1946- 1956. Page 201 is the prewar version, the 1950 with the supple frame is also mentioned as common with para units, and both used widely throughout the CEFEO. Just need me a nice period Hotchkiss jeep to haul all this stuff to the field... Some day, some day... ---Toussant P.S. You have posted the picture already under your section on Algerian packs... Had I looked there before, I would have recognized it immediately! 10lbs.! Merde! I guess I'll need that Hotchkiss sooner than I thought!

The big all-green one with the external frame or the Bergam with the "X" frame? If it was the former, I would have been happy to send you or or both of mine.

Naw, unfortunately it's the external frame model. I like the x framed one- reminds me of the later US jungle pack used in Vietnam by SOG and LRRP units. I'm guessing the earlier pack gave the Natick Labs inspiration for the American version. I like to use that pack when I go trekking around up north in the woods. Oh, well! Guess I'll use the big beast to keep all my little stuff together. Panniers for a newly acquired jeep perhaps? I can only dream for now... P.S. Thanks for the offer- I probably would have taken you up on it! ---Toussant

My latest find from France arrived the other day... Finally got my 1954 dated canteen and cup, but got stiffed for the cover, waiting for feedback from seller to get...was included in the auction... Nice bread bag and to complete my CHAPEAUX DE BROUSSE collection a green dominant Chapeaux, as I have a mint Khaki one in my pic. Was a little tight so stretched it wet fits like a charm now. Nice and in country look... bread bag will be handy for bombs and other munitions in the attack...
