Any info on the first one?
I know I've seen the second before, and that sure looks like Général Gilles on the right (those ears are unmistakable, plus he's always seen in a Type 1 Windproof jacket). It may have been Opération Castor in November, 1953.

Not sure if that's him or not (pre eye injury I suppose), and I'm not sure that's a windproof, maybe just a scarf or towel around his neck. I thought the scene is a bit earlier than 1953, based on the US M1943 HBT uniforms and the US M1928 haversacks and the Mle 1893 boots. Look like regular infantry guys to me but I dunno exactly.
