Just an FYI: There are a few pairs of brown Italian jump boots (stivale paracadutisti or stivale anfibi) on eBay.it for about 40€.
These are basically direct clones of the French Mle. 50 jump boot. Difference include a slightly altered tread pattern, what appears to be smooth-finished leather, and the vamp is little bit shorter than the French model. Still, it's a very close match, and as close as we're going to get the Mle. 50's, which are rare anywhere one goes. I took a chance on a pair and will report back with an appraisal of their suitability. The smooth-finish leather can be altered by a light sanding, if need be.

So, after a back forth exchange in both Italian and English, the seller, for some unspecified reason, will not ship to the US. His loss.

Yup... I had a guy in France tell me he wouldn't ship the item (I forget what it was...) because the shipping "would be too costly". Telling him I didn't mind about the shipping and I was willing to pay it didn't make any difference.

Puzzling. I'll ship anywhere to Timbuktu as long as the buyer is willing to pay for it (and not leave negative feedback when the package gets intercepted by AQIM).
