The French inspection stamp and the date thereof is puzzling. And why the French bother with a crappy M1928 pack when they already had the Mle. 35 during the war and Mle. 50 TTA and TAP after?

In war, everything is in short supply. That's the simple answer. And sometimes, the shortages in peacetime are worse.

Probably for issue to the guy behind the infantry guy supplying the guy that was supporting that guy, post-1950 or so of course!
