Interesting photo... Looks like a modified SMLE and a bloop tube in the ruck.

That's an L42A1 Rifle in 7.62 NATO and you are correct on the M-79 grenade launcher. The photo was taken in Oman in the early '70's. Interesting conflict.
Good finds, Étienne.

Oh, man... (ok, bad joke. But it's better than most of my Djibouti ones)
I do like me an L42A1; I have a sporterized .303 No.4 Mk.1 that looks similar (and no, it wasn't sporterized by me!)...I've even thought about buying one of the repro wood cheekpieces for it. I even scoped it with a period style scope (utilizing a no drill mount, btw)
Ok, I'm getting waaay off topic now

Oh, man... (ok, bad joke. But it's better than most of my Djibouti ones) Yer cut off. No more jokes for you. I wonder how many Windproof sets the Brits made if they could afford to give a crap ton away to the French and still have enough left over for use by the SAS thirty years later.

No kidding. I never think of the Brits as being as producing of war materiel as the US during WWII, of course, but dang. Perhaps some things got stashed away in some depot somewhere and weren't found until much later? Or, I guess also SAS guys might have bought the suits themselves from some surplus store like Silverman's (http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Silverman%27s)
