Weapons used by the Viet-Minh

I have searched all my books and watched (nearly) all youtube-vids about the VM in Indochina.

I have seen following weapons in pics or film:

Rifles:
98k
No. I Mk. III
No. IV MK. I
Mosin-Nagant Rifle and Carbine
Arisaka
Lebel 1886
Berthier Rifles and Carbines 1907, 1916
MAS 36
Garand
Carbine .30 M1
even a P14 or P17 rifle

Submachine guns:
MAT 49
Sten
Thompson M1928 and M1
MAS 38

(so far no MP40 yet)

Machineguns:
ZB 26 and ZB 30
FM 24/29
DP 1928
MG Maxim M1910
even one B.A.R. M1918
Japanese MG on tripod (strip fed, don´t know the exact type)
MG 34 (!?)


Did anyone saw another type on pic or film?

OSPREY has a book on Indochine 45-54...try looking there...

You want to get hold of a copy of 'Le Viet Minh' by Eric Deroo and Christophe Dutrone. Excellent detail, photos and sketches.
