We are now researching the proper beret color for 3e BCCP. I know that the postwar SASDB's wore the maroon as it was a direct lineage to the SAS Brigade when all SAS units were brought under the the Airborne Corps prior to DDAY. However, is 3e BCCP's color maroon or a red?

Maroon (it is still called "Béret rouge" though...)

All:
We just received a very nice response from Cyril Bondroit, author of the recent book on the 3e BCCP. His response confirmed what Marsouin had told us regarding the beret color for this unit. Bondroit noted that it is bordeaux red or amarante...Accompanying his email are three photographs of the appropriate beret which I will post here to the list later today.
Many thanks for all of you who have helped us sort out our kit and combat uniform.
This is the main purpose of the list and it works great when you have so many devoted individuals willing and capable of the research needed to do it correctly.
Champollion.

Welcome aboard Karl:
The composition of the FICW paratrooper combat uniform is a big topic. There appears to be much variability in regard to this and there is much variation between units and also through time. it all really depends on what unit you are wishing to portray and what time period in the war. if you can provide that information we listers are always up to provide some information on paratrooper uniformity.

Our thanks to Doc and Joubert for their continued above-and-beyond dedication to research on the history of 3e BCCP and that ongoing struggle (crusade?) we carried on for six months in search of the ever elusive Bondroit book! It has been found, purchased by one of our 3e BCCP members!
And of course the continued thanks of those on this forum who continue to show your esteem to the veterans of France, from this war, by your interest in its research.

If we start a topic about the Backstreet Boys it might attract spammers with genuine Indo-China militaria for sale?

I think it's the term 'Maroon' in the topic title that attracts them... Like the bandname Maroon 5.
