I just ordered this book several days ago from Books-a-Million: www.ecampus.com/bk_detail.asp?isbn=9782912755018The selling price on Amazon.com was 135.00; the Books-a-Million price was 67.50 [ price, tax and shipping ]. The information listed for this book is included in the seller's page: The life and death of a parachute battalion from its creation to its annihilation on Route Coloniale 4 in October 1950. The recollections of 84 survivors and more than 970 previously unpublished photographs reconstruct, day by day, the operational life of this battalion The 3e BCCP became particularly famous for a spectacular airborne assault on the citadel of Dong Khe, which had fallen into the hands of the enemy and successfully recaptured it after a bitter struggle. They participated in all the great battles from Cochin to Cambodia, from Annam to Laos and from Tonkin to the gates of China.

The incessant search for this book continues.
After purchasing it four weeks ago Books a Million made the odd decision to cancel my order, for which their staff knows not why. They found another copy for me "somewhere in France" but could not tell me where, so I plopped down $70 for another copy.
The book is carried by a British and French distributor both of which are out and dont see any new copies printed soon. However, were told that occassionally copies appear on amazon.fr (where we just put a "wanted" ad) as with amazon.com and various other book distributors.
This book, like peices of intricate gear ---- is becoming hard to find!!

Well here is the latest update on our search for Cyril Bondroit's book, 3e BCCP Indochine 1948-1950 (IndoEditions, Paris). "Doc" sent an email to IndoEditions yesterday and received an email reply from the publishing company today that the author, Mr. Bondroit will be in to work tomorrow and will receive our email, with our questions about BCCP uniformity, beret color, etc. We hope this helps shed light on this issue as well (marsouin we appreciate the information you have provided and of course, the workhorse, Cookie for his help in this authenticity quicksand! Cookie has given us so much help over the past several months - that now makes a case of Kronenbourg for you when you hop the pond for the DBP battle!)
We did find out that IndoEditions has begun reprinting this book; it sells for $110 USD with a shipping price of $60 USD, for a total of $170 - one hell of an expensive documentary.
Our thanks to "Doc" for his work on this project, shedding still more light on these brave men of the BCCP!
vive la Parachutiste Coloniaux!
marsouin: I do have a question - what is the difference in the words COLONIAUX and COLONIALE?
Merci.

Well "La Coloniale" is the common/general name/substantive for "L'Infanterie de Marine " (regrouping all units: para,infantry,tanks...without distinction). Like "La Legion" designs all Legion Etrangere units without distinction. Coloniaux is an adjective.Parachutistes coloniaux=colonial paratroopers....Roughly translating. Hope that helps...
