Hi all, I am new to your page but have always wanted to do a Legion Impression. Can anybody point me in the right direction of the Legion uniform that is in the pic I have attached, it's my favorite era and would really like to find out where I can get my hands on one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am having real trouble finding anything Legion related whether it's original or reproduction clothing. Is there somewhere you guys go to find gear ? somewhere that makes uniforms or field related gear and equipment. Scott. Attachments:

Looks like either pre-WW1 or interwar period. Algeria and/or Morocco.
That's more Beau Geste than Street Without Joy.
Still, it's a start. Welcome to the party.

Bienvenue
It is a very interesting aspect on the Foreign Legion history.
But, I can only say, I believe this account lies somewhere between the 18th and the 20th century? Anyway, "Bienvenue" from my side.

Bienvenue! It's interwar period 1918-1939. WWI leather equipment. The kepi would depend on the year. Possibly WWI era, or the Mle26, with cover. As for getting the uniform, it'll be a challenge. I saw that display on my trip to the Foreign Legion Museum. Here's the description of the display. Attachments:

Not sure about the reliability of this vendor, having never dealt with them, but they appear to have some promising material. WWII France : HIKISHOPGood Hunting.

Scott, bienvenue sur notre forum!
That impression is a bit outside the scope of this forum, but discourse on the topic is nonetheless welcome. Craig is going to be far more knowledgeable about that period than myself, and I'll let him chime in. I believe he has some appropriate repro kit.
Cheers, and stay safe down there!

I haven't had much luck with Hikishop. I made inquiries as to sizing, etc. and only heard crickets. Others have had good experiences, but I can only speak to my experiences.
Except for insignia, and the kepi blanc, the basic uniform and equipment of La Legion is the same as the French line units. Depending on your focus (WWI, Interwar, WWII, Indochina, Algeria) will depend on where you can find reproductions. First I would recommend consulting Martin Windrow's Uniforms of the French Foreign Legion. This will give you an idea of what articles that you will need. Then you can start your search for what you need. As a general list:
eBay, eBay France, Doursoux, Tranchee, The Nice Collection, At the Front, What Price Glory, WWii Impressions. For firearms, gunbroker.

I've noted the items from Hikishop but I've never ordered anything from them in spite of being especially interested in the interwar period, if in fact it could be called 'interwar.' The Legion was nearly always in action somewhere in Africa. As far as uniforms from that period go, few of them seemed to have survived WW2 to speak of. Even so, at least one post-war photo showed pre-war uniforms in use but mixed. One thing that causes me to hesitate is sizing. Uniforms just don't come in S, M, L, and XL. Or rather, soldiers don't. On the other hand, the fatigue uniforms I was actually issued when I was in the army were decidedly short--and I wasn't.
I wonder where Hollywood gets their reproduction uniforms. Between the wars, for films set in that time period or a little earlier, originals were probably used.
