Hey guys, Let me know what you think of my WIP Para impression and give me some feedback. Working on converting a TTA 52/TAP 55 to TAP 50 musette and picking up and m3 trench knife shortly to add to it. Link to reddit below hope that's OK.

That looks outstanding. I don't see any issues with it. Well done!
As for converting a pack, the TAP Mle. 55 is a long way off, but you may have better luck with the TTA Mle. 51 pack as that's quite a bit closer. Keep your eyes peeled on ebay.fr, and you may find an original TAP Mle. 50, as I've seen some for reasonable prices.

I think it will be passable until i can find an original as I'm keeping my eyes peeled on ebay I find looking on ebay.fr to be quite a tease as most of the stuff I'm interested in the seller wont ship to U.S. Any suggestions for rain gear? I'm looking for a post ww2 french khaki shelter half/poncho but I'm not having much luck. Would a us army ww2 resin coated poncho be accurate to use or should I hold out for the french poncho?

I wouldn't chop apart a Mle. 55 TAP since those are becoming harder to find. A regular TTA/TAP Mle. 50 "Bergam" would also work. Rain gear would be a French "Zeltbahn", the Mle. 51 poncho en toile, with the "lizard" camo pattern on one side.
I've got a lot of pieces by asking if the seller will ship to the US. Very few were completely unwilling to ship here.

Appreciate the advice Lew, I'll pick up a zeltbahn or two Ive had conflicting advice to as there usage Ive had people recommend the Zelt others say the earlier Khaki are more Indochina correct.

Either should work, although the lizard camo is later in the war.

For Indochina I would go with the khaki pre-war model, or maybe even a German Zelt. I think these were used till the end while the lizard ones only came later indeed.

The camo ones came out concurrently with the 47/51 camo jacket, but yes, the khaki would work for the entirety.

No worries!
Strangely, the Mle. 51 toile de tente/poncho en toile and the Veston TAP Mle. 47-51 use a slightly different camo pattern. The Mle. 56 tente en toile (shelter half) uses yet another unique camo pattern.
