Hello all, I've got a 1935a pistol. I bought it last year to carry as a captured pistol for my German impression (our unit is a static division garrisoning the Cotentin Peninsula).
My dilemna is that I don't want to damage it by blank-adapting it. I would like to use it for WWII and FICW. Is there any source for spare barrels?

All I can say is watch here (or contact them), and also check out Sarco! www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=0980z1935A&MC=BTW, given the availability of ammo for them, I really wouldn't worry about blank adapting it. They are not a strong collector. if I had one I'd blank adapt it! You'll get more use and enjoyment out of it shooting blanks than just looking at it. JMHO Renault

Has anyone blank-adapted theirs? I've got a blanks guy that will make the blanks for it, that is if normal .32 ACP blanks don't work.

I bet .32 ACP blanks would work. But they might have to be pretty hot, like Joe Swanson makes to cycle the action properly.
Being that it is a straight walled, rimless cartridge, the headspace is gauged off the mouth of the cartridge (where the bullet is seated in the case). And all semi-auto pistos, M-1 Carbines, and other straight walled ctgs are the same way and they work just fine. So case length will probably not be an issue. Regardless of the headspace issue (which is really important just for live ammo anyway). As long as you have enough of an extractor to grab the rim of the cartridge for extraction and ejection, I see no problems....

I have had Joe Swanson alter a M1911 to become a blank firing weapon. Blanks tended to jam and not eject properly on any .45 I used before I went to Joe. Perhaps he can do the same thing with the 1935a. All he requires is that you send him the slide and he makes a new barrel for it. He's is a really nice guy. For those who don't know him, his business is called Swansons Motion Picture Blanks. He supplies Hollywood with a lot of their blank weapons. Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan was using one of Swansons M1911's when he shot at the German tank at the end of the movie.
