Bought the 62 cm version- looks a little shiny (synthetics?) and slightly orange-ish in color. It is thicker material than my NCHS hat, but perhaps with all the multiple variations in country and from France, it will be most suitable. I am currently wearing it, and will beat it up a bit to give a saltier look. Time will tell...

After one month of wearing this hat daily, it has toned down the shininess and the orange tint. The crown telescopes down nicely for that common practice in country amongst the French troops. I went as far as peeling the tan paint off the popper and grommets and the underlying brass is getting that nice mellowed brass patina. I think further wear will give it the proper 'grime' coat to give it an even more authentic look. I would recommend this Chapeau highly as a good quality replica at ~$35. Regards, ---Toussant
