this book has little to do with indochina , this book is about the author growing up in Nazi Germany , he later served in the Legion and was captured at Dien Bien Phu , some of You might have met him , he was a vender at CW re reactment I went to in Wison's Creek Mo , he was interesting to talk to ( he is hard of hearing ) he was the first former Legioner that I ever met that served in Indochina , I told him that I served in Vetnam also he and his wife were very nice people

That's cool! We had a legion vet here in our little town who was also German. We were just talking about him last week on another message board. He also served in Indochina. He passed on several years back. He ran a motel here in town. I remember a story a old US Army vet friend from Idaho told me about shipping out of Viet Nam back in the late 60's. He was in the Army and shipping back to Germany and stopped in Salzburg Austria to get on a train. An older Austrian gentleman walked up to him (noticing his GI uniform and suntanned complexion) and asked him in perfect Vietnamese "how did he like Viet Nam?" That was a no brainer for sure!!!!!!! I wish this Gent would write a book about his time in the Legion , I do remember He did say that in the prisin camp the Viets fed them the same food as what they gave their own troops he is a small man about 5.4 and that must have helped him survive on that diet
