Beside the typical US Army Pineapple and the British Mills bombs, what where the French Issue Grenades used both in Vietnam and Algeria?
I am very interested if folks have any resin casts or have done a resin cast to reproduce these for display and living history?

Bonjour!
Beside the US MK. II (I think the British Mills Bomb has been used only in the early years) the main French made grenades were the DF 37 and the OF 37. Older types like the OF 15, F1 or DF 30 I never seen on pictures.
On the French auction platform DelCampe you always find deact and resin replicas. For European buyers good, don´t know about the terms of shipping to the US.
Bye Frank

In Algeria, it was exclusively the OF and DF 37. A Mk. II might make an appearance, but foreign stocks were pretty much exhausted in Indo. The French have always like grenades. OF= offensive= more boom and less fragments. Fewer fragments means reduced risk for advancing troops. DF= defensive= more explosive payload and fragmentation. According to the theory, troops on the defense would be behind/under cover, so high-speed debris would be less hazardous to the user. Hoover: Thanks for the heads up. I need some dummy grenades to go with my dummy rifle grenades.

Although I can't find the seller, I picked up some wooden copies of Russian grenades circa the Afghan Soviet war, produced in Poland. They were around $20 each and the customs declaration stated something other than reproduction hand grenades. I'll keep looking for the link. Found the link www.ebay.ca/sch/moto-aura/m.html?ssPageName=&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2654Although currently he is not listing French grenades.

I'd like some LG48 repro grenades if anyone finds a source or wants to make them!
