My jaw dropped at the price on the FG-42. I reenacted 6th FJR back in the 80s with a guy who had a 2nd model like the one in the pic. He picked it for $20k and sold it a few years later for a loss when he fell on hard times. He'd probably slit his wrists if he could see this one going for $149k.

Grog, the last time I saw that FG-42 was at Fort Polk, LA. Jim Lenard carried it to reenact with, he went so far as to have it blank adapted. After the days battle we were cleaning weapons when one of the base party ask to hold it. It was great fun to see his face when told how much it cost. Jim had spent that day covering my mortar crew.
