Assemblyment!
III / 3e REI is sponsoring a weekend French Indochina War training session at Pat O'Bryan's ranch in Zephyr, Texas. This is the same location where the 2009 French Indochina War National Battle took place. All FIC units are invited to attend, including new/novice reenactors. We hope that you'll join us for this unique event.
Weekend Training
Highlights for the weekend include:
Friday
12.00 Gate opens + registration.
17.00 Legion Mess opens. Refreshments.
20.00 Legion Mess closes.
24.00 Lights out.
Saturday
06.00 Appel.
07.30 petit de junier: baguette, marmalade, pate, coffee, rolls, butter.
09.00 Assembly.
10.00 Classes: Foreign Legion history, customs, courtesies; La Boudin ( song of the Legion ); tactical training ( patrolling, close assault, IA drills, hand signals ); Firearms safety ( blank rounds ); First Aid; Proper wearing of the uniform, equipment, first-person impressions;
12.00 Dejunier: Cold rations ( each reenactor to bring his own lunch ).
13.00 Begin Tactical training: patrol + "battle" with OPFOR.
18.00 End Tactical training.
18.15 Movement back to AO.
19.00 Appel.
19.30 Saturday evening dinner ( TBD ).
24.00 Lights out.
Sunday
07.00 Appel.
08.00 petit de junier.
09.00 Police the AO.
10.00 Depart AO.
Prices
The price for the event is free. Saturday morning breakfast is * free of charge *. Saturday night BBQ - TBD. There may be a charge for the port-o-pottie. More info as that becomes available.
Safety
October is Texas is still warm. Cold water and Gatorade will be available all weekend in a green cooler for all participating personnel. Weapons will remain UNLOADED until the training battle commences/ends.
Alcohol
Alcohol is allowed on property. Alcohol will not be consumed until all weapons and blank ammunition are secure.
Hotels
There are several hotels in Brownwood, Texas. More information will be provided for those who wish to make reservations.
