On page 177 and 178 of Les Paras Français en Indochine, there are examples of the Patauga with the stripe- 177: 1e BPC in 1953; 178: one pair featured from the archive collection and another of a para of 8e Choc at DBP. More options for us. Woohoo!

Just what we need more options...

What's the matter- problems focusing? There's a drug for that, I'm sure.
I looked at Palladium's Pallabrouse (with the the stripe). Something is off about the sole: there is a green band all the around the edge where the detailing is. I don't know if that's supposed to be like that, bad lighting, or whatnot. Their sand colored option looks the same as the one they made in the '60's and '70's. For variety, I'm setting my sights on the Mil-Tec or Rakutan offerings, depending who comes out cheaper with shipping.

Squirrel! What?
I think it's a lighting thing, but I could be wrong.

Huh, you have that problem, too.
I suppose I could just ask them, and inquire about the status of the Hi Pampa that is the subject of this thread. Nah, that might be too easy.

Where's the fun it that, when we could just speculate and come to erroneous conclusions and declare ourselves experts on the subject??

And commandeer an entire web site to prove it to ourselves. Wait...

Oh, I've just about seen it all when I was more heavily/regularly into reenacting many years ago. Incorrect boots was consistently one of the main "issues" with people's [bad] impressions. For the first few events, I can see it...but if one is never planning on obtaining something correct, one should just stay home until one can afford to or are mentally prepared do so as it ruins it for everyone else. <rant over>

If one has never done Civil War reenacting, one has not experienced the horror. The horror. The Horror. I had an oil cloth ganked from me at Antietam 140th. Even farbs appreciate quality and attention to details.

ha...I've avoided Snivel War like the plague. I have a lot of friends that do it (I do live in NC after all), but there are too many true believers around here for me to be interested

I always found the best Southern impressions (ours included) to come from the North. They usually were able to approach the subject more rationally and less emotionally.
I'm gonna take a stab at the Mil-Tec Pataugas when SOF Military gets my size back in stock. I'll probably order some from Rakutan, too, for some variety.

I placed an order with Rakuten this evening. I will let the curious know how this goes. Nous allons!

No dice. I ordered two sizes and both were sold out. The seller refunded my money quickly. By the looks of things, it looks this hole has been tapped. Now, I'm off to look for the Sturm-Miltecs.

32€. Steep, yet there's no other option, and it's still cheaper than Palladium.

Can't argue if it's still cheaper. Lookin' forward to the product review.

I recently purchased khaki Palladiums on sale for $37. Free shipping, Dont know if this is apples to apples to what you are looking for, though.

I already have a pair each of the OD and khaki Palladiums; I wanted something different and in OD (since Palladium apparently discontinued that color). $37's a good price, though.

I understand. Ill share with the group the results of the experiment I carried out on an old pair of tan Palladiums (sri lankan manufacture-circa 2007) and converted to OD uppers and black rubber soles using OD shoe cream, black permanent marker, black paint and old bicycle tire inner tube. I think the result is pretty good. Let me know what you think.

I've worn them around a bit and in wet weather. Haven't noticed any paint chipping, peeling, bleeding etc.
