Retired from the Canadian Army and former paratrooper. Have been a military re-enactor for around thirty years. The Indo China war has always been an interest, so thought it time to give it a go and looking forward to doing so.

Welcome to the forum. I have a similar history although I never served under the trade that says 'Chimo'. I retired this February.
How long ago did you get out?
What province did you end up retiring in or did you take a last move?
What periods have you been re-enacting?

Steve, Nice to hear from you and thanks for the welcome. Retired in 1996 on Vancouver Island just outside of Victoria after 27 years. Did about 13 years off and on in the airborne role. The group I belong to does a complete range of Canadian an Allied military history. I myself do mainly WW2 and the Cold War era. Even though my trade was infantry for six years and the rest as a sapper, my point of interest in the historical world is the military medical world. How about yourself, what is your background? Don

Welcome aboard.
I'm in SE Michigan. My main focus is the Algerian War, but there's some crossover into Indochina.

Don:
I was a crewman for my entire career, Calgary, Germany, Gagetown, Petawawa and finally Meaford. A few tours in Bosnia as well as Somalia and Afghanistan. I was in jump troop in Pet from 90-92.
As for re-enacting, I started out doing Rev war while in cadets. During the regs I became involved in WWII re-enacting as both a Cannuck and German. I started Vietnam re-enacting a few years back and French Indochine is pretty well an extension of that. Growing up watching the Vietnam war on TV, it helped shape where I wanted to go with my career. As the returning vets were not given the treatment they deserve, my mindset over the last few years has shifted from training civis to re-enact to listening to the Vietnam vets and thanking them for their service. As well in the last few years, Great War re-enacting has been a new found passion.
