Anyone know if these were used in FICW by the French?
If so, anyone have a pic??
Thanks!

I've got a photo of two Legion infantry officers on parade during the Indo war wearing Colt 45's in US brown leather holsters - It is undated and you canot see any unit insignia but General Cogny is in the second rank next to both officers. Like other pistols such as the P08 and P38, the Colt would have been a personal, privately purchased, item. probably very popular at the beginning of the Indo war and less common later on due to the standardisation of weapons issue and calibres with the 9mm MAC 50 pistol.

The 1911 would have been a common sight. The MAC 50 was issued out pretty slowly, so other sidearms had to fill the void.

Yes, no problem with using a M1911
