for the French weapond, (MAT49, MAS36, FM 24/29) dont use the yellow leather straps (fabication year 70/80). as on this photograph in Indo-China leather was color natural brown you can sandpaper the yellow coating and put maroon waxing to find the good color, or to find the straps of the good color

To add to this: the yellow leather accouterments appeared in service at the end of 1962/beginning of 1963. Some pieces are dated earlier, but, in any case, they were not used by anyone until well after the Algerian War had ended in May '62.
Black slings with a silver-colored stud and the natural brown slings with the black stud are correct for Indochina and Algeria, and they were issued indiscriminately. The yellow leather is a no-go.
Edited to add: Don't even think of using any equipment with the green leather on it. That came about in the mid-70's.
