Currently there are two reenactors left in our group ... myself and a new FICW reenactor who has recently joined up with me. Were not sure what unit we will be attempting, but we have decided that we will continue to reenact FICW in Texas.
We've decided to break away from many of the larger groups here in Texas and "go it alone" in order to carry off an impression without the hindrance of the "booze, blanks and buffet" groups that currently populate the reenacting genre.
We will be staying in touch, and posting our photos for all to see here on the forum!
Merci.
Mick

Salut Mick!
Nice to hear that you will continue FICW-reenacting. Just now the scene is growing in Germany, so it would be sad to see if you would stop that.
I noticed that there is not much life in this forum currently, but there will join some new guys from Europe soon.
Bye Frank

Yes, that´s right. I am very happy for finding some old mates with the same thoughts of the hobby as me. And we are protraying very different units, Colonial INfantry, Paras, Legion etc. No problem, so why not?

Reenacting is what we make it.
The civilian mentality is strong and you have to recruit the right person who is imbued with history, purpose and that soldierly quality of service (as opposed to the bravery under blank fire type) who see's reenacting as an honorable pursuit and not just a hobby.
Its great to be back in the swing of things and to see what everyone has been doing. Nice pics from Deutschland.
Were still not settled on an impression here yet.

February, 2012
We are proud to announce our decision to re-establish French Indochina War reenacting in Texas. We will be forming a new Foreign Legion unit (3e REI), with an emphasis on an early war impression (khakis, kepi's, bush hats) as opposed to late war due to the heat and humidity in Texas, which mirrors Indochina in many ways.
We will use 2012 to prepare a new website, new objectives and a mission statement and of course, recruit for the new group. 3e REI will take part in parades, commemorations, displays and provide talks to high school and college level historical course levels about the French Indochina War. Our expansion into education will highlight the organization's intent on educating those in Texas (and the surrounding states) on the war, its background and consequences related to the well known, Vietnam War (1955-75).
Regards, Mick Stewart
