From what I have been researching, most of the fighting in Indochina was by the FFL and Colonial Troops. My question is, were there any regular French Army units in the theater.
Colonial Troops were commanded by regular French Army Officers, correct?
Thanks!

Very good question!!!!!
Yes, and yes! 1e RCP is the first metro that jumps to mind! And many coloniale units also had an abundance French NCO's as well!
The bulk of the forces were coloniales. Both Falls "Hell in a Very Small Place" and Windrows "The Last Valley" have French ORBATS in their appendices for Dien Bien Phu. Illustrates very well the breakdown of units. I thought that Grog posted the French ORBAT for the entire war somewhere on thie forum several months ago.
Hope this helps

Grog posted it here:
Go to BATTLES on the main board ....
The click on DIEN BIEN PHU...
Then click on CEFEO ORDER OF BATTLE.
Thanks to both Renault and Grog.

Oops!!!!! It's just the ORBAT for DBP! But that's still good! it gives a good breakdown of units. Most of these units had been serving in Indochina for years!
Naturally the're were others. I just have a soft spot for all of the coloniales!!!!!!!!!

Oui mon Lt,
The Coloniales have a bad wrap from the war. They fought gallantly and bravely througout the war.
