It is HOT! And I'm a Texas Boy, but it is hot! It don't usually get this hot until July/August! But it's been 103-108 F everyday for the past 2 weeks here.
But I look at the bright side. No malaria and no yellow fever! ;D
I'm glad it was only 100 F at the Brownwood event several weeks ago, else we'd have lost more to the heat! ;D
I've had two Pastis and they've helped! La Miss has a new drink that I need to stay AWAY from. Lemoncello! It is addictive!!!!!

It's been the same here. As I type this there's a storm moving in which is supposed to cool us off (down to about 95º) for a couple of days, then back to 100+.
I remember the big heatwave we had here in 1980. Temps got up to 114º in Houston. This was the Summer before my Senior year in HS and me and a friend went to visit some other friends that had moved to LA before school started. They were complaining because it was 85º everyday we were there. Felt like Winter to us.

Bingo! That was a HOT one!!!! La Miss was pregnant with Fedi's big brother that summer!!!! She was miserable. The kid finally showed up the beginning of Sept. Wasn't that the summer that the drought was broken by Hurricane Alicia end of August? My little sister was living in Houston then too!

Oh yeah,,,,,, I forgot, Lemoncello.... ;D Well it's kinda like drinking really cold lemon drop candy (of which I really like). But with lots of alcohol in it. Actually it's pretty good and La Miss just had a very small glass. She said afterwards, she really didn't give a &^%$^& about anything. I think she likes it. Renault

Renault Alicia was the Summer of 82. I only remember that because I was in the Army at the time and missed being here for it by about a month. I was home on leave in July and was up at Fort Lewis when it hit. I personally recall 1980 getting to 110º from one of the those bank clocks that I used to pass everyday. I only know it actually got to 114º because the local paper here did an article a couple of days ago comparing this heat wave to that one.

Yeah! I couldn't remember....
I remember back in Sept 2000 (Labor Day weekend!) it did the 110-114 thing again. We did an 18th century scout in the Kitsachie national forest over by Camp Claiborne Louisiana! Man was it miserable. No breeze at all in them pine trees! Good thing the spring fed creek by camp was running good, clean and clear. We spent most of our time there. But the mosquitoes were miserable at night.

Over here in Bonn we've got only 28 C, which is like 82.4 F. You may laugh about such a mild breeze, but for us it is very hot!! And it is a special climate. I was told that the guards of the British Embassy got extra payments for tropical regions as long as it had been here in Bonn. They probably dropped that when they moved to Berlin. I just returned from Midland, Texas where the temp's hovered between 110 - 112 [ F ] between San Angelo - Sterling City and Midland. It was quite interesting in that I videotaped a "dust devil" outside San Angelo with my video camera; the temp's were hot in the alfalfa fields, there was moist cloud cover ... which prompted the d/d to form. This is an example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk3Ot2PtiagIt's only going to get hotter. The thunderstorm last night simply cooled the area off for several hours. I beleive its 100 percent humidity outside right now... /martini/

I believe '80 was Hurricane Allen. You are correct sir! I remember it now. My friend and I were worried that the weather was going to get bad enough here to ground our flight to LA. We ended up going to stay a couple of days with his Dad (who was in the Army) at Fort Hood, then he drove us to Dallas. Since we were due to catch a connecting flight there the following day we spent the night at the DFW airport hotel then went on to LA the next day. Spent two weeks in LA and got to miss the cleanup from all the branches that came down during the high winds.

Allen! That's it! I couldn't remember but I remember the kid getting here soon after that! Whew!!!!!! Today it rained like all get out in Austin, but we didn't get a drop here at the house. However it is 20 degrees cooler! There was a big grass fire about 5 miles from me. And Sunday an elderly couple burned up in their home. Just across the road from where the fire was today. Kinda makes you wonder? Otherwise suppose to be back over 100 by Thursday... Renault

Well ... I just killed the largest mosquito I have ever seen: after swatting the bastard down, I measured him at 2.5 inches in overall length. This is the largest I have ever seen ...
It scared the hell out of me, because he was in my car this morning and I thought it was a yellow jacket...
This is a city mosquito so I wonder what the sizes of the ones that inhabit Braes Bayou or the Trinity River bottoms, east of Interstate 10 look like?
