Mick,
Some good pictures there. I thought some of your colo's looked very authentic (the crushed in bush hats are a real winner...)

Cookie,
Thanks for the compliment. The 'crushed' look lends a rough, historical feel to it. My bushhat, which I am looking at right now, still has my sweat stains on it and is ripped, discolored and weather beaten.
I've been researching photography from that period; I am looking for a period camera / Leica probably / that would lend itself to a more grainy, edgy take on the photos.

mmm... Leica's... Robert Capa used one of those babies throughout WWII and Indochina. Very good little pieces of kit. I was on holiday in Switzerland a few years back and saw a shop in Zurich that had second hand 1950's Leica's. If I knew then what I do now I'd have scooped the lot. They were something like $70 a piece!

That pic, among others, was taken by a photographer from the Waco Tribune. After a lot of haggling [ which ended up with me telling them I promised not to sell the photos ] they provided about 5-6 photos of about 15 we requested. It was nice of them to do it, though. /martini/

It looked very tropical. The kind of hot rain that just drains you of your energy in about five minutes!

I actually remember seeing the photographer take that pic out of the corner of my eye. It was before the public battle. There was a lot of mass confusion going on about the area while some of us were trying to assemble our sections to await our orders in the rain. I really wasn't paying much attention to him. There were more pressing issues at hand that weren't being addressed! Go figure! Renault

As I say, the "Grog School of Photography", which means "no vogueing." /martini/ Amen Brutha! Candid > Posed any day of the week in my book. You usually get more realistic shots that way.
