David - You running dog you! Happy Birthday and many happy returns of the day! I'll probably gut-shoot you in less than a fortnight - no hard feelings - but wanted you to know that you were being thought of on this day of days. Best to the Lovely Holland, Niv

You can't shoot what you can't see... and you can't see fear... only taste it, at the back of your throat, just above the knot that has formed in your stomach. A rustle in the jungle. Is it me? Just a mongoose... you are distracted for a moment, watching it playfully dart between the trees... then, without hesitation, it jumps to the side, killing a snake you never even knew was there. The snake, much larger than the once timid mongoose writhes and twitches out a slow death. Silence. And that was it, the last moment of peace you would ever experience. A shrill whistle tears through the air, deep in the steaming woods, and all hell breaks loose around you. And just as you can't see fear, you never saw the enemy, but 3 of your comrades lay dead and dying on the foreign soil you so wrongly have violated. A warm, wet feeling trickles down your face. Must be sweat... but it isn't. And everything starts to grow dark. Welcome to the new Viet Nam.
