Looking good Danny.
Which pattern smock are you using?
Are those the Panzerfaust survetement 42 trousers?
Cheers, LeM.

Danny, I'd ditch the 44/45 Pattern Suspenders, likewise the Green Canteen Pouch (earlier, Tan kit is more likely), and replace the Vietnam chincup with either a leather one, or a fabricated cloth one. Great effort tho - I'm Jealous!

Hi ya cheers for the comments, the suspenders are TAP 50 ones, the Canteen cover is 44 dated just very very grubby. I couldn't find an introduction date for the chin strap but have seen other tan examples and believe the green ones were introduced very late in 45.
The windproof trousers are the Panzerfaust made examples.
Cheers Danny

Danny - I didn't see the front of the Suspenders, so forgive me for that one...Your Canteen Carrier looks 'too green' AFAIR, the French either never recieved OD7 M36, or very little of it. The chinstrap wouldn't be that type at all (it looks like it's from the Vietnam era M1 TBH), I'd replace it with a leather one.

Ok Danny,
Not a bad impression however...
1) Ditch the parachute camo material from under the helmet net. 2) Put filler clips into your ammo pouches on your belt. 3) Get rid of the beret from your belt. It would be on your head or in your musette bag - if left on your belt it would get damaged/lost/wet & mouldy. 4) Ditch the M43 shovel - these were seldom, if ever, worn on the belt. Most pictures show the shovel, minus cover, hooked into the 'Y' crux on the back of the suspenders or in the cover thrust sideways under the musette pack flap. 5) Dye, dubbin or polish your leather laces. These are way to bright and new. They would get darkened and wet immediately in the field. 6) Don't hook your 'A' frames under the helmet band with the web chin strap tied up round the back, this was seldom done. Tuck the 'A' frames inside the helmet and the chin strap under the band, wrap it round several times or leave it dangling. 7) Oggy is right about the Vietnam Chincup. Ditch it and get a tan web one or a leather one (cut the centre out). If you're feeling adventurous make a cloth one with 'double D' rings. OD web chincups were not worn until Vietnam. The 187th ARCT were still using tan strapped M1C helmets with tan chincups in Korea 1953.
Other than that it is coming along well. Just get the gear a little dusty or worn in!
Regards
Mark
