Hi all, following on from my similar posting on the Allied Forum, how many people in the UK are there currently building an Indochina impression? Assuming there isn't an active unit as such already (not wishing to step on any toes ), my idea was to get everyone together into a 'battalion de marche'. This means that everyone is free to pursue their own impression but can also get together in an ad hoc unit much as they did in theatre when units sufferred heavy casualties in the field. 6e BPC is a fascinating unit. I'm currently considering basing my impression on a colonial para or on one from the 2e BEP. I've found a web site(can't remember the url at the moment' listing all the various combinations of uniform and equipment used by 2e BEP for any given time period. This also ties in with my post regarding the use of German splinter material. A photo of a legionaire at DBP shows field made splinter trousers. I read somewhere that this was more common for units deployed in Laos (can anyone confirm this). Seeing as 2e BEP spent a lot of time in Laos, would this make them good candidates for such kit? I hope that we can all get together in the future. Cheers .

Seems an interesting concept to me! Will be good to see it and will be willing to help develop it further!

I would say there are only a handful of people in the UK. All individuals. Good luck with your unit. You'll need it...

The main thing as I see it would be to give everyone who wants to team up from time to time an avenue to do so. I would see this as a fairly informal grouping - maybe doing a couple of events a year. No rigid hierarchy or empire building. Let's see what happens! And I won't mention splinter camo again

Gents,
We just finished with our first-ever French Indochina War National Battle in Rusk Texas several weeks ago. Although our numbers were small (4 Viet Minh and about 20 Legion), this event will definitely grow.
We also have a summer "Groupe Mobile" event scheduled for June here in Texas (Brownwood, Texas) on private land.
We hope those in the UK who are putting together FICW impressions take us up in the future on attending one of our events. Your impression(s) in the UK are excellent and well researched.
Regards, /martini/

LeM - I'm working towards a BEP Impression, however finances are tight...I already have had to cancel something with Cookie due to this. So I'm in the Pending Tray at the mo, interested, but shackled...

I'm moving to the UK soon, and would love to find some fellows interested in French-IndoChina to hang out with.
